What the heck am I doing?

Tracing the Tullier history is difficult.  At least it is from my living room in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  My father was born in Louisiana. So Tullier is not uncommon there.  I have spent the majority of my life in the southwest. With the exception of two brief visits to the Pelican State, I have no frame of reference for the area.  I am also researching my mother’s family history.  Her family is from Albuquerque.  Yeah.  That makes it a little easier.

My father’s mother was a Jones.  Yes.  There are loads of Joneses everywhere, which is probably why everyone is always trying to keep up with them (sorry for the bad joke).  She was born in Louisiana, as was her father.  Her mother, however, was born in Mississippi.  I know little to nothing about my paternal grandmother's family.

What are my goals with this project?

There are a few questions I would like to answer in researching my family history. From the little exploring I have done so far, I can tell this list will grow throughout the process.

  • Where exactly in France are the Tulliers from?

  • Were the Joneses a cajun family?

  • Was there a rift or feud between the original LeTullier brothers who immigrated to Louisiana?

  • Were there any Tulliers or Joneses in the War of 1812? Mexican American War? What about the US civil war?

  • Were the Tulliers always planters/farmers?

  • Were the Joneses’ mormon?

So let’s begin.  I already have some information to share.
